The Dr. Brown's Specialty Feeding System is a unique bottle/nipple/valve system designed specifically for infants and bottle-fed children with severe to profound difficulty in efficiently expressing a fluid bolus during sucking. Infants with conditions such as cleft lip/palate, oro-neuromotor dysfunctions, congenital heart disease, syndromic sequences, and craniofacial anomalies will benefit greatly from using this system.

The system includes the "Infant-Paced Feeding Valve," a unidirectional flow valve that is inserted into the silicone nipple at the base and placed into the collar. This allows infants to use their own tongue and jaw movements to express and deliver fluid boluses safely and efficiently for swallowing. The feeding process becomes "infant-directed," ensuring that infants can feed successfully and without discomfort.

The Dr. Brown's Natural Flow bottle is fully vented to create a positive-pressure flow for vacuum-free feeding. As the baby feeds, fluid enters the mouth while air is channeled back through the vent system, preventing the ingestion of air and reducing symptoms of colic, spit-up, burping, and gas.

If the Specialty Feeding System leaks, ensure that the collar is neither too tight nor too loose and that the insert and reservoir are properly assembled. Do not mix formula in the bottle as shaking may cause the internal vent system to separate. Only use Dr. Brown's nipples specifically designed for the Specialty Feeding System.

This set includes two 4-ounce specialty feeding bottles with level marks for easy measurement. It is designed to assist with managing and treating complex oral feeding issues, providing positive feeding experiences that are efficient, successful, and safe. Additionally, the non-squeeze method helps decrease gassiness and burping, and the system is easy to clean in the dishwasher, sterilize, and autoclave.
